Guidelines for clients of commodity futures brokers

Keep these PMEX client-protection rules in mind before and throughout your trading relationship.

Do

  1. Verify the broker and every branch in PMEX’s official list of registered brokers.
  2. Read and understand the account terms, conditions and Risk Disclosure Document.
  3. Complete the Account Opening Form accurately and keep a signed copy for your records.
  4. Notify the broker promptly and in writing whenever your account information changes.
  5. Deposit funds to PMEX only through a crossed cheque or online transfer from your own PMEX-registered bank account.
  6. Review daily, weekly and monthly balance and activity statements for trades and cash movements.
  7. Ensure you receive SMS and email alerts for trades and cash movement in your account.
  8. Approach PMEX if a complaint remains unresolved by the broker.

Do not

  1. Deal with any broker or branch that is not registered with PMEX.
  2. Provide false, contradictory or incomplete information in the Account Opening Form.
  3. Issue a cheque, pay order, demand draft or other instrument in the name of a broker, employee or representative.
  4. Deposit cash into your trading account.
  5. Use a third-party cheque, bank account or online transfer to fund your account.
  6. Rely on rumours, hot tips, alluring advertisements or promises of assured returns.
  7. Share the ID or password provided by the Exchange with a broker, employee or representative.
  8. Give up your right to receive trade and cash-balance reports by email and SMS.
  9. Begin trading before reading and understanding the PMEX Risk Disclosure Document.
  10. Give any deposit—under any name—to a broker, employee or representative against fixed or guaranteed returns.

Protect your funds

The correct funding route

Client deposits must follow the PMEX-approved trail and remain attributable to the account holder.

Step 1 Your own PMEX-registered bank account
Step 2 Crossed cheque or verified online transfer to PMEX
Step 3 Credit reflected in your PMEX trading account

Never hand cash or transfer funds to an employee, representative, personal account or third-party account. North Cape Markets does not offer fixed or guaranteed returns.
